Lilacs & Dogwood

The lilacs are smelling sweet, and looking so pretty next to the path.  Today is Joseph's birthday.  We met my sister and her family for dinner last night.  Today we're having a quiet homestead day, with a present or two, and good things to eat and drink.  Happy April, friends!

dogwood is a favorite of mine, though i have heard it will 'bleed' sap if you cut it? perhaps this isn't true but it is something i remember my grandmother telling me, that they are greatly damaged by cutting?

Mandy, the flowers come & go so quickly, I've not cut many for bouquets over the years. But I've never noticed them "bleeding" any more than other trees or shrubs. Perhaps this ties in with the crucifixion stories around the dogwood?
Linda, I've not made it to many friends blogs lately, and am always glad to see you've visited here.
