Pottering About

The men got the last of the siding on the fab shop over the weekend, and it's looking good. Things are moving right along.
The past two days, I've done more massage work than I've done in several years. So today is going to be a "pottering" day. Straightening up, laundering those many sets of sheets, and hopefully starting on my newest fun project.
On the way home last night, I decided to stop by Goodwill, and see what treasures my tip money could buy. I found one I'm especially fond of. It has many possibilities, and I'm deciding how I want to use it. I think I'll take some pics, and see what ideas you might come up with.

Sister Love

Today, I'm spending the day with my sister. We'll be talking, eating, and looking for thrifted treasures. Though I have many special memories of our lives, there is one in particular that stands out from all the others. It was in the 80's, on a June day, when we were quietly talking and giggling on our parents bed. A very simple memory, really, of sister love. We were attempting to relax, having just gotten home from having our nails done. You see, it was our wedding day. She had gotten engaged a few months after I, and we all decided it would be a grand idea to have a double wedding. Though some questioned our decision, it was a truly special day. The entire planning process and the day itself went off without a hitch. One of those marriages eventually ended. That would be mine. My sister and I, we're still close, and if you listen very long, well... you'll probably catch us giggling.

Silk Lovelies

It's a rainy, gray day here. A good day to be indoors creating.
I'm inspired today to create more eye pillows. These silk scarves, all thrifted, are going to become my next eye pillows. They all seem to have a Valentine or spring theme. I love the little hearts on the scarf on the left. At last count, the Craft Hope site has sold over 1000 items, and raised over $20,000 for Haiti. I feel humbled to be a part of such an awesome group of crafters.

Thrifted Treasures

Yesterday, after my massage work at Hospice, I stopped by a local thrift store and found this book. It's Woodstock Handmade Houses, and is similar to 2 other books I have, which inspired me throughout the building of my house. Certainly, some of the dwellings are pretty funky, but some are beautiful, soulful homes, like the one pictured here. I just searched a link for this book, & am astonished to find they've got my 1974 paperback version listed for $45 and up. Guess my $1.50 buy was a pretty good deal. I've been inspired by The Thrifty Chicks to keep an eye out for perfect, thoughtful thrifted gifts throughout the year, & did find one for a loved one that I'll put away. I did well last year, making a number of presents, as well as giving a couple thrifted gifts, but would like to do even better this year. I'd say its a good beginning.
