He of The Green Tongue

I wanted to stop by and say hello.  Progress is being made.  Cabinets are being emptied and wiped down, oil lamps being readied for use... though it's been a very mild winter so far, I'm still hoping for a big snow storm... paperwork is being organized.  It feels good!  The picture is quintessential McNibs... he loves to vex Guinness with little tidbits he picks up.  Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

Handmade Holidays

All you crafty folks have just a little while longer to apply to the Lark Artists Handmade Holiday Art Show.  There are just a few slots left, so apply now if you'd like to be considered.  And just a reminder, I'll be here tomorrow.  Come on out and see us!

Wednesday With the Boys

I haven't mentioned the pups lately, so thought I'd drop by and leave a few pics for you.  They're doing great, and growing like weeds.

McNibs doesn't have a lot of facial expression, but his body shows his playful side.  He's a sweetheart.

Guinness is a silly pup, and still so full of that puppy energy.  He makes me laugh every day.  If they're awake, they're usually playing, so it's rather hard to get a good picture.  Wishing you a playful and happy Wednesday!

And Then There Were Two

The day started out with our first asparagus omelets of the year.  A good beginning to this day, which is Joseph's birthday.  Yesterday, our homestead expanded yet again.  Before we met Guinness, I had been talking to the Great Dane Rescue folks about this pup, and he finally made his way here yesterday.   The universe must be very aware of Susan and Lisa's love of animals, as they arrived with 4 tiny rabbits they rescued before they could begin their trip this way, and a few hundred yards out of our driveway on their way back home, they came upon 2 horses that were loose.  These are two busy ladies!  Thank you, Susan and Lisa, for bringing us this sweet pup.  I think he and Guinness are going to be the best of friends.  Now, I'd better get busy baking a cake!

Meet Guinness

The rain is supposed to be moving in, so J & I have been doing outdoor chores before it begins. J did some mowing, and moved some earth around at the pond, to facilitate water flow into it. I filled birdfeeders and pruned our kiwis; also pruned a little on the blueberries, though I didn't want to do much, with the branches already full of blossoms. I'll have to do better next year about pruning them earlier.

We're delighted with our puppy, whom we've decided to name Guinness. A friend suggested it, as he's a "stout" little pup. And it seemed appropriate, being he came into our home the day after St. Patrick's Day. It was tough to catch him standing still for these pictures.

Yesterday was my Mom's birthday. She and Frank visited us, took a walk to see the new pond, and helped collect eggs. Happy Birthday, Mom! Everyday, I take a stroll to see what new plants have come up. Many of the hostas have come up this week, and this morning I saw the peony had come to life. I'd been a little worried about the dwarf pomegranate we planted last year, but it is beginning to leaf out. I so look forward to the day we're picking our own pomegranates. And kiwis, for that matter. OK, we're ready now, so bring on the rain.
