A Short Post

This is going to be a shorter than usual post.  Somehow, after working on it off and on for several days, it was deleted Sunday evening, and I don't have the heart to redo it.  I can tell you that there was another broccoli harvest, part of which was used in pad thai.  The rest of the broccoli was frozen.  A pot of sweet potatoes was put on the woodstove for the pups and chickens.  I went through Swagbucks for 4% off an order, and used coupon codes for another 12% off the entire order, plus a few items that received 15% off.  The deep house cleaning is done, except for the bedroom, which will happen this week.

We've owed two couples in the neighborhood an invite, and had them all for dinner over the weekend.  I harvested lettuce to mix with store bought for our salads, and pasta sauce was made with our canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, and summer squash, garlic, onions, and fresh rosemary.  Brownies and GF cookies were made with items we had in the pantry.  It was a nice night.  We learned a few more things about the neighborhood, including one of our claims to fame, Rufus Hussey, known as bean shooter man.  Here he is on Johnny Carson.  Have a wonderful week, friends!

Ugh. Sometimes it's tough being a blogger.

I loved the video of Carson and Mr. Rufus! Carson always featured "regular" folks with amazing talents on his show. Wowzers! What a good shot!

Oh gosh - I'm sorry that your work has been deleted!

I can't believe how much broccoli you've got so far! That photo on Instagram made me sooooo hungry for fresh broccoli. It sounds like a nice evening with the neighbors and to learn about Rufus - too funny!

Wishing you a wonderful week!

Yes! When I was in my early 20's, I worked 2nd shift, and my routine was to come home and watch him before getting ready for bed. In another clip I saw of him, Rufus learned to use the slingshot to hunt as a kid, as only his older brother was allowed to use their gun.

It would have been a better broccoli year, but we cut all the crowns, small at the time, before the arctic blast, figuring we may lose them. It ended up we only lost a couple, and I'm happy to be getting any broccoli at all. I love it!

How lovely to share good times and good food with neighbors. I'm sure sorry to hear about your technological glitch! What a drag! We are starting seeds today. It is still snowy and planting seems far off, but will be here in a blink I'm sure. Have a great day!

May your seeds grow into robust plants! I'm behind on seed starting.

I enjoyed Rufus! Late-night television was much different and way better way back then.

Sorry to hear about your technical problems. Sometimes I feel like I spend all my time fixing technical difficulties. My son was home over the weekend and we spent a long time dealing with tech support trying to get my new robot vacuum to connect to the wi-fi. It is supposed to be a time saver yet we wasted our weekend going around in circles. It still doesn't work and we will have to try again the next time he comes home.

But Rufus made my day.

I'm glad you enjoyed Rufus. I'm definitely not a techie kind of gal. I hope you can get it working. If you do, let us know if it really is a good thing.

The robot vacuum works but it doesn't connect to mine or my husband's work wifis. You can push the button and it runs but without the internet, it won't take instructions like returning to base, charging up, and remembering where it left off. I do like it which surprises me. It is the equivalent of using a sweeper. After you get all the electrical cords rolled up, shoes put away, and throw rugs tacked down, it is easy. Get one that (hopefully will) connects to the internet so it can map your house as opposed to bumping back and forth randomly. I'm using it every couple of days to get the food crumbs and tracked in grass clippings swept up. It has saved me work.
