Catherine-- yes, they make a fruit. They look closest to a mango, but come in a hand like bananas. They have a yellow flesh and tropical taste, kind of a cross between banana and pineapple. They must be eaten fresh, as they become bitter if allowed to begin browning. Great in fruit salads and smoothies.

Those are really pretty! Do they become a fruit? I think I've heard of Pawpaw as something edible.
